Starting at sundown (approx 5:30 pm) at the resort's historic El Fortin Lawn, the experience takes participants on a walking tour through Texas legend and lore, beginning with a ceremonial bell ringing where majestic limestone arches frame the beautiful Texas Hill Country. The ringing of a mission bell has long held significance throughout Texas and Mexico history to announce meal times, warn of oncoming raids and attacks and the closure of mission doors for the night. Authentic cowboy storyteller "Makin' Dust" leads guests on a walking tour to the daily winter lighting of the legendary fire pit - all the while recounting legends of Texas holiday lore and tales. The procession then winds through a nature setting to the Plaza San Saba, which is lit and warmed by several chimeneas. More music and local legends ensue, including the story of a legendary snowfall many moons ago. With a grand flourish, a snow flurry begins falling around the guests, bringing to life the biggest holiday legend in San Antonio. Throughout the 30-minute program, local carolers sing songs of the season and invite participation from the group. Additional activities surrounding the event include:
