Chattanooga, Tennessee -- Dine at the Southside Grill By Cheri Sicard
Brilliant chef Matt Pinner, who favors the slow food movement started by Alice Waters, creates dishes that linger in the memory long after they've stopped lingering on the tongue. Basing many of his menu items on Southern "Low Country" cuisine, Pinner is not afraid to play with the genre, subtly blending flavors and textures and adding nouvelle touches that truly make his food sing. Pinner uses local growers to brings him the best and freshest ingredients, and an on-site herb garden helps flavors the menu items. Everything we had at the Southside Grill, from appetizers and salads to main courses and desserts, was exceptional and exceptionally presented. I'd recommend specific dishes, but the menu changes every 8 weeks to reflect the seasons and to take advantage of the best seasonal ingredients to be found. The Southside Grill boasts the city's largest and finest wine cellar and had won more Wine Spectator Awards of Excellence than any other local restaurant. Nineteen wines are offered by the glass or in wine flights, consisting of three small glasses served at the same time for comparison tasting. With its exceptional cuisine, extensive wine list, soft lighting and ambient jazz music, the Southside Grill, housed in a historic old building, is perfect for any meal you want to be memorable. The Southside Grill is located at the corner of 14th and Cowart Streets in Chattanooga. For more information or reservations call 423-266-9211 or visit www.SouthsideGrill.com.
