Traveler's Tales is a unique and wonderful concept for a travel book. A collection of essays by various authors, this is definitely not your "typical guidebook." It does, however, present diverse perspectives to travel not found in the ordinary guides. Although most of the other fine books in this series deal with destinations, this one is unique in that it is for, about and by women travelers. A myriad of destinations are covered, everything from shopping in Tennessee to trekking Australia's outback. The essays read like a novel and I found myself unable to put this engrossing book down. This book could easily serve as an inspiration for those who feel "adventure challenged." The tales within will move you to want to pack your bags and head off into the sunset in the footsteps of the courageous women portrayed. About The Series For those of you who are not familiar with Travelers' Tales books, you'll encounter award winning books full of stories to help people understand a place and its culture or explore a theme. The books help people learn about life through the varied experiences of others and provide many points of view, from locals, foreigners, people from all walks of life, famous writers and unknowns - in short, anyone with a good story to tell. These stories give readers a deep and rich background before their journeys even begin, or open more windows onto a place and people after they return. Each tales teaches about life, both in a foreign place and in our own souls.
