This book is an outstanding travel guide for those who are on a spiritual journey, literally. Author Bernyce Barlow, herself an alternative healing therapist, explores sites in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, Utah, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, California and Hawaii as well as Mexico. Dream spots, healing centers, goddess and warrior sites, temples and vision caves are just a few of the places you'll encounter. The book is amply illustrated with color and black and white photographs which will leave you longing to visit the gorgeous spots outlined in its pages. Regardless of your travel, or "new age" tastes, you're bound to find something of interest in Sacred Sites of the West. From petroglyphs to caverns to waterfalls to hot springs, it's all here. These energy vortexes have allegedly been recognized for their abilities to "heal, purify, rejuvenate, promote dreaming and enhance visions." I personally don't know if all that's true, but regardless of the spiritual claims, they are places of awe-inspiring beauty. That in itself is enough for me. |
