We used a variety of paper crafting tools and techniques to make this elegant card, including vellum paper and ink embossing. Don't worry if you're new to any of the techniques, there are links to instructional tutorials in the Ralted Projects and Features sections below. When I designed this card, I didn't stop, I also came up with four other card designs that use the same rubber stamped image. Click here for details and directions for the other cards. |
| Supplies: |
a large white card blank ( the cover of ours was
5 1/2 X 9 3/4) a piece of blue striped scrapbooking paper the same
size as the cover of your card |
| Instructions: |
Step 1. The ornate dreidel stamp we used for these projects
is made by Ruth's
Jewish Rubber Stamps. If you don't have this stamp, you
could use another large design stamp instead. Using silver ink, stamp the dreidel on the
dark blue paper. Cover with silver embossing powder, shake
off the excess and use the embossing heat tool to set the
powder. Click
here for more details in our embossing technique tutorial.
Step 2. Apply a thin coating of spray adhesive to the blue striped paper (you can alternatively run this piece of paper through an adhesive machine like the Xyron machine). Glue the striped blue paper to the front of the card, completely covering it. Step 3. Tear all four sides of a piece of vellum to make the back mat. Step 4. Set two eyelets, one on each side of the top edge of the vellum and through the card base where you want the vellum to be placed. Click here for our eyelet setting tutorial. Step 5. Tear all four sides of the stamped dark blue image, centering the stamped image. Step 6. Spray a thin coating of spray adhesive to the stamped dark blue paper (you can alternatively run this piece of paper through an adhesive machine like the Xyron machine). Glue the dark blue paper to vellum, centering it. Step 7. Thread the silver curling ribbon from the back of the card to the front and tie in a decorative bow. |
