sailing schools, j-world, san diegoSAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA, USA -- JWorld calls themselves "The Performance Sailing School". However, I found them to be much more than that. In San Diego, where I went for my training, they have courses that cover everything from basic sailing instructions to full blown cruising.

The school's fleet of boats is provided by JBoat, one of the top sailboat design and manufacturing companies in the U.S. Hence the name J/World. All J/Boats are designed with performance and ease of use in mind. This is especially true of the J/80; an 8 meter long sailboat that can easily accommodate three students and an instructor. These boats are excellent for teaching as they provide instant feedback to the student any time a control or helm is changed. They are also easy to rig (put together for you landlubbers), which means that you will be on the water quickly and confidently.

The instructors at JWorld have years of experience in day sailing for fun, racing for competition, and cruising for vacations.

At JWorld you'll start with in-class lectures where you can ask questions and have any fears or misconceptions about sailing eased. After class time, the fun really begins with hours upon hours of sailing on beautiful San Diego Bay with picturesque downtown San Diego serving as your backdrop.

I personally attended a Race Boat Handling Class where my instructor was able to take my sailing skills up another level. Others came to JWorld to learn to sail for the first time. The point is, no matter what your sailing skill level, or lack thereof, JWorld has a course for you.
