CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE, USA -- So, you're thinking to yourself, "I want to get away from home, but; I want to take home with me." That's OK; it's a normal thought process that nearly 9 million other Americans have. The fun of family travel is only made easier (and often more enjoyable) when you can bring all the comforts of home right along with you. And fortunately, there are plenty of campgrounds in and around Chattanooga that are more than happy to accommodate the RV market.
For a great Chattanooga experience, the Scenic City offers an assortment of camping facilities that have everything you need, from water hookup to laundry services to cable TV. Whether you want to really rough it or if you want a few homey "luxuries," our camping spots will meet your needs. Choose from three KOAs, three state parks, and a variety of campgrounds located near recreational mountains, caves, lakes, and whitewater rafting rivers.
Raccoon Mountain Campground is located at the base of the 1,200 foot mountain, at the entrance of Raccoon Mountain Caverns. After romping around down-town all afternoon, a great way to end the day is with a tour of the Crystal Caverns, located just yards from the campground. Children can relive old mining days with gem panning, and everyone will enjoy the fun of the batting cages and the camp-ground's brand new GoKarts. The formations lining the labyrinth of caverns will amaze everyone!.
At the foot of historic Lookout Mountain, known for its famed attractions Rock City, Ruby Falls, and the Incline Railway, the Lookout Valley RV Park & Campground offers 15 acres of relaxation. RVs are welcome, but if you want to set foot on solid, "non-movable" ground, enjoy the luxury cabins the park offers.
Shipp's RV Center & Campground, located on the Tennessee/Georgia state line, not only sells RVs, but offers tent sites, camping cabins, a swimming pool, fishing pond, game room, and playground. Open year-round, this campground is located just a few miles from downtown Chattanooga and Hamilton Place Mall.
For history buffs, Best Holiday Trav-L-Park is located on a Civil War battlefield! Close to downtown, this four-star rated campground offers cabins, an oversized pool, playground, grocery, and a brand new boathouse.
For waterfront camping, Chester Frost Park and Harrison Bay State Parks, offer breathtaking views. Chester Frost was recognized as one of the nation's top ten camping destinations in Outdoor Life and Parade magazines.
Also on Chickamauga Lake are the Possum Creek and Sale Creek Recreation Areas. And northwest Georgia offers Cloudland Canyon State Park.
In Southeast Tennessee near whitewater fun, visitors will find Hiwassee Outfitters, High Country Adventures, and Outdoor Adventures.
With the many camping and outdoor opportunities available in the area, not to mention the family-fun attractions, unique shopping, and variety of dining venues, make your next family vacation a Chattanooga trip!
