ANGEL FIRE, NEW MEXICO, USA – If you want to exclusively focus on skiing or boarding on your New Mexico winter vacation, Angel Fire Resort makes a great choice. Everything you need is right here – lodging, restaurants, activities, nightlife, not to mention outstanding skiing and snowboarding right outside the door. You could comfortably never leave the resort during your entire trip.

A variety of activities and runs will keep everyone in your group happy. Beginners to experts will enjoy Angel Fire’s 74 Trails (26% beginner 50% intermediate 24% advanced) accessed by 2 high-speed quads, 3 doubles, 2 Sunkid Wondercarpets. For a particularly picturesque experience, check out Angel Fire’s “glade skiing” -- the opportunity to ski through 23 acres of scenic tree trails. The resort also offers 11.5 km of Nordic (cross country) skiing terrain divided between 3 trails (1 beginner, 1 intermediate and one advanced).

Boarders and adventurous skiers will want to explore Angel Fire’s two freestyle parks. The Lowrider Park with its smaller features is perfect for those developing skills before they move on the summit’s Liberation Park featuring multiple jumps, rails, funboxes and even a short school bus for advanced riders. If you just can’t get your fill of the slopes, Angel Fire lights up for night skiing from 4PM to 9PM daily. Tubing sessions take place throughout the day as and evening as well. Angel Fire’s “Polar Coaster’ offers riders three lanes that will sail them down 1,000 feet of expertly groomed hills. When you reach the bottom, a moving surface lift carries you effortlessly back to the top for another ride.

Where to Stay and Eat at Angel Fire
The resort’s hotel offers your choice of spacious rooms and suites just steps from the slopes. Amenities include an indoor swimming pool, hot tubs, business center, fitness center and free Wi-Fi. Feel free to bring Fido along as Angel Fire is pet friendly. Many Angel Fire vacation rental condos and homes are located within two to three blocks of the slopes and are available for either long, short- term or nightly rental. Choose from studios and one, two, or three bedrooms units and larger homes.

You won’t go hungry or thirsty at Angel Fire, whether you are on the slopes or at the base resort. Three casual restaurants serve skiers and boarders at various points on the mountain. Thirsty skiers can stop in at the Lazy Lizard Cantina for a quick drink before heading out for more runs.

At the base resort, try the casual family-friendly Chianti’s pizzeria for lunch or dinner. They also offer a hearty breakfast buffet to provide fuel for a busy day playing in the snow. In the morning and throughout the day the Coffee House, just steps from the hotel’s front desk, serves gourmet coffees, coffeehouse drinks, and pastries.

The newly opened (as of this writing in 2010) Caliente Grill serves fine prime and choice dry aged steaks, chops and burgers as well as a variety of chicken, seafood, vegetarian, and pasta dishes. Child-friendly fare is also on the menu and be sure to save room for their terrific desserts. Stylish yet casually comfortable, a dinner at the Caliente Grill is a perfect reward after a long day at play.

Before or after dinner (or both), relax in the En Fuego Wine Bar next door, serving creative cocktails along with an extensive wine list. Tasty appetizers pair perfectly with the libations and there’s often live music from popular acoustic singer-songwriters.
