B&B's
In Big Bear
Bed and Breakfast Inn fans have several great choices in
Big Bear. The Alpenhorn B&B, conveniently located between Big Bear
Village and the Snow Summit Ski Area, is Big Bear's only AAA-4 Diamond award winning
inn. Guests will find beautifully landscaped gardens to stroll through and beautifully
appointed rooms to relax in. Guest rooms come with private bathrooms with fully
tiled showers and separate whirlpool bathtubs for two, spa robes, fireplaces,
phones, king or queen feather beds, televisions and VCRs, and private balconies.
Breakfasts consist of fresh breads, fresh seasonal fruit, our homemade granola,
European-style coffee, hot Oatmeal Banana Brulee, and a hot dish such as coddled
eggs, apple pancakes, or cheese strata. Hot and cold beverages, along with freshly
baked cookies, are available throughout the day. In the early evening, the Alpenhorn
offers complementary hors d'oeuvres served with white and red wine. For later
in the evening, the innkeeper sets out a variety of liqueurs, See's Chocolates,
mixed nuts, and so on for guests to enjoy as they return from dinner.
The
Knickerbocker Mansion Country Inn, originally built in 1928, has been a
popular local historic landmark ever since. Set amidst the tall trees of the surrounding
forest and just three blocks from Big Bear Village, the inn offers beautiful accommodations
and first rate food. Even if you're not staying there, you can make reservations
for some of the best food in Big Bear for Friday and Saturday night dinner.
Those looking for a remote and private experience should head across the lake to the Gold Mountain Manor Bed and Breakfast, a historic 1928 Maltby Log Cabin mansion. The grounds and buildings are beautifully kept and restored. You'll be pampered with cozy robes and house made aromatherapy milk bath. Full gourmet breakfasts, homemade treats in the afternoons and afternoon hors d'oeuvres and beverages will keep you from ever going hungry. In room dinners are even offered by prior arrangements.
Big Bear's Most Unique Inn
For
something truly unusual in the lodging department, you can do no better than Castle
Wood Cottages. Each of the eleven small private cabins is completely themed,
making it a fun place to stay for kids or playful adults. Stay in a pirate's lair,
an enchanted forest, a woodland treehouse, in King Arthur's Castle, or Robin Hood's
hideaway among others. Each room is decorated in theme and even includes costumes
for guests who want to dress the part.
Cottages come with in room fireplaces and whirlpool bathtubs. Some have kitchenettes. For that extra romantic touch, management is happy to arrange for gift baskets, fresh flowers, silk rose petals, candles, chocolate-dipped fresh strawberries, or special requests to be set up in your room upon arrival.
Castle Wood guests are also welcome to use the heated swimming pool at the nearby Timberline Lodge. The lodge is a great value priced lodging, close to local attractions. Check out their get-a-free-night lodging specials.
