It is important to be able to distinguish between heat exhaustion and heat stroke as heat stroke can be fatal.
| Heat Exhaustion |
Cool, MOIST skin, sweating, headache dizziness |
Give water and salt. Put on cool clothing. Rest in shade. |
| Heat Stroke |
Hot, DRY skin, dizziness, headache, confused, rapid breathing, rapid pulse, unconscious, high body temp above 105°F |
This is a medical emergency. Lower the body temperature immediately. Move to shade. Remove clothing. Bathe in cool/cold water and fan to increase cooling. |
