If your dog(s) is as much a part of your life as mine, this book is a must read. Like most of the Traveler's Tales guides, this one is made up of a series of personal experince travel essays. In this volume, of course, the subject matter revolves around man's best friend. What I like most about Traveler's Tales books is that they read like novels rather than the usual dry travel guide, and A Dog's World is no excpetion. Here you'll find stories by authors such as John Steinbeck, James Herriot, Pico Iyer, Helen Thayer and Gary Paulsen. There are stories about dogs and owners who hit the road together as well as stories about new canine friends that were met along the way. There is also practical information about hitting the road with your own pooch. Reading the excerpt from Steinbeck's Travels with Charley made go back and re-read this classic that has always been one of my favorites. All in all, A Dog's World is a wonderful gift for any dog lover, including yourself! |
