Review: This classic cookbook and travel guide is an old standby. It's been packed-along by campers, canoeists, cyclists, and skiers alike. It's has weathered the test of time. For those new to outdoor activities and recreation, a reminder seems appropriate. This book's pages are packed with three-meal-a-day menus along with practical information on planning, packing, and preparing. For each meal, GOURMET CAMPING includes food suitable for cooking at home in advance, ingredients to pack along, and how to put it all together once you're in camp. Included are menus to prepare for all seasons of the year. In addition, the author describes information about twenty-seven outdoor excursions.

Perhaps the author/compiler says it best in her introduction, "This is a book for people who love thundering whitewater, running river swamps, gulf dunes, piney campgrounds, and snowy mountain trails..."

Next time you're planning an outdoor excursion but hate the idea of Spartan dining, I suggest you add this collection of outdoor tips and recipes to your backpack.
