COOKING WEB SITE TEACHES BEGINNERS THE BASICS & BEYOND

FabulousFoods.com (http://www.fabulousfoods.com) teaches its visitors these skills and countless others that will have even complete beginners turning out fabulous food.

Editor and co-creator Cheri Sicard says she wanted to make cooking and entertaining more accessible, even if you didn't learn those skills earlier in life. Each recipe in the site is conveniently linked into an extensive culinary glossary. The basic cooking techniques web surfers learn through detailed online tutorials can then be used to create the hundreds of recipes archived at the site.

But Fabulous Foods is not just for novices. Once cooks are comfortable with the basics, they can jump into the site's recipe data base and put those skills to use. Some of the country's top chefs, such as Emeril Lagasse, Jacques Torres, Rozanne Gold and Barry Bluestein have shared favorite recipes with Fabulous Foods readers.

Sicard says the site's mission is simple ­ "to inspire people to put down the mouse and get back into the kitchen." To that end, Fabulous Foods will be adding new features specific to holidays, regional cuisine and entertaining throughout the year 2000.
