Golden Eagle RV Park, Colorado Springs, Colorado

Note from Cheri:
Susie, one of the Fabulous Camper's who subscribes to the Camper's Corner Newsletter wrote in about her experiences at two Colorado Springs RV parks. We love getting these kinds of emails from our readers as there's no way we can possibly visit every camprgound and RV park, but collectively, we can. If you have thoughts, reviews or camping and RV experices you'd like to share, email me me cheri@fabulousfoods.com. We'll be happy to pass them along.

From reader "Susie"

" I really love getting Camper's Corner Newsletter! Thank you for all of your hard work, we appreciate it! I have been a Camp Fire Leader for 20 years and put in several years as a kid. I'm always on the look out for "real camping" recipes and hints to pass onto the other Camp Fire Leaders. I'mnow retired from the kid end of it. ;-) whew!

I'm also a RV Camper. I wanted to tell you about the wonderful campgrounds we stayed at this summer. It was the Golden Eagle Ranch RV Park & Campground; 710 Rock Creek Cyn Road; Colorado Springs, Co. 80926 1-800 666-3841.

In the office is the John May Museum, lots of bugs! If you take SR-115 from Colorado Springs to Canon City, just look for the HUGE bug and turn north. The campgrounds were clean, the sites large. Lots of big trees and friendly people. They have a stocked trout pond, where we actually caught supper. I'm ashamed to say how often we have gotten skunked at those "stocked ponds" LOL!

It's located in the foothills of the mountains, it is so beautiful there! We talked to several campers who stay there yearly, we thought that was quite a compliment for Golden Eagle. It was about $20.00 per night to stay there. There is supposed to be a bear and a pair of golden eagles who live close by and are seen occasionally by campers, we didn't see them. But we did see magpies and black squirrels, something we don't have in Kansas.

We also stayed at the Garden of the Gods Campgrounds, downtown Colorado Springs. Its a sardine city. We had never encountered a campground where we could touch both our trailer and our neighbors! And expensive? OUCH! $40.00!
