For the savvy skier, the rest of the world’s apparent ignorance of New Mexico as a great ski destination is a good thing. Lift tickets are far more affordable than their Colorado, California and Utah counterparts and long lift lines are virtually non-existent (with the possible exception of Taos Ski Valley during peak times, even then there’s so much terrain it’s easy to avoid crowds).
From newbies trying skiing or boarding for the first time to experts looking for adventurous new terrain to conquer, New Mexico’s ski resorts offer what you’re looking for. New Mexico is home to eight ski/snowboard mountains in all. The pages below will give you details on four of New Mexico’s most popular ski resorts including what to expect from the resort in addition to where to eat and stay while visiting. If you visit these or any other New Mexico ski resorts, please post your findings in the comments section below.
If you’re not driving to reach New Mexico’s ski towns, you can fly in to Albuquerque then rent a car. American Airlines also flies into Santa Fe.
Details of the individual resorts will be given on their subsequent pages but for general information about planning a New Mexico ski or snowboard vacation visit the Ski New Mexico website at www.SkiNewMexico.com.

Yes, deserts and the scorching
Written by: MathieuMonday, 04 April 2011 |
Yes, deserts and the scorching sun comes into mind when one thinks of Mexico. But who would have known about the wonderful ski resorts among the rocky mountains. Most of the ski resorts are pretty affordable and most importantly crowd-free, which means you can ski or even take your first skiing lessons without running the risk of crashing into someone. Great time to visit is during springtime, skiing down the cool slopes while the warm sun shines on. Regards, Mathieu Apartments Barcelona

I’ve been skiing in Utah

I’ve been skiing in Utah and Colorado for years but I have to admit I never though too much about New Mexico as a ski destination but your article has really opened my eyes. I especially like the idea of being on slopes with fewer skiers as all my favorites runs seem packed to the gills as of late! Regards, Patrick Van Dun Campsites

I love visiting New Mexico

I love visiting New Mexico. Some of the best food in the world and easily accessible from my home in Southeastern California. I'm a snowboarder mostly so I visit the NM slopes often and I have to say they are everything you mention and more! I give New Mexico skiing two thumbs up! Regards, Samui Guy Samui Hotels

It’s good to know that

It’s good to know that New Mexico offers affordable, crowd-free skiing. I know for sure that it wouldn’t be as enjoyable skiing there if it a ton of people would be there as well, especially when you’re not that comfortable or used to skiing. Regards, Jean Vacation Rentals
