PIGEON FORGE, TENNESSEE, USA – What’s with that huge upside down mansion? It is a strange site to be sure, an enormous colonial style mansion, its roof where its floor should be. Inside waits things even stranger and more wondrous.
With so many attractions lining the highways of Pigeon Forge, Sevierville and nearby Gatlinburg, parents may have a difficult time determining where to spend the family vacation dollars. Wonder Works makes a good choice. This jaded writer was pleasantly surprised at the volume and quality of family attractions to explore inside this “indoor amusement park for the mind.”
Mom, dad, grandma, grandpa and kids of all ages will find lots to pique their interest within these unusual walls. In fact, there’s so much to see and do here it can keep the family occupied for a good long time, making Wonder Works a good value.
Over one hundred and twenty attractions will challenge your minds and bodies. Everyone will have so much fun playing with the interactive exhibits and experiments, it’s easy to forget that their educational as well.
After entering the building through an inversion tunnel to “realign and invert your orientation so that you can defy gravity and play with all the exhibits and experiments” inside the upside down house, the world of Wonder Works awaits.
Highlights of Wonder Works
Around every bend and crammed into every nook, cranny and corner of Wonder Works you’ll encounter fascinating and fun things to do, see and try. There’s so much here it’s easy to miss things. Here are some highlights you’ll definitely want to check out:
The whole family will enjoy the Bubble Room, where you can literally put yourself inside of a huge human sized soap bubble.
The Wonder Coaster lets you design the Roller Coaster you have always wanted to ride then feel the adrenaline rush of a 360 degree pitch and roll motion virtual ride!
In the Illusion Gallery you’ll discover how perception and perspective are used to help you to look at the world in an entire new way where the unexplainable will come to life and unusual will be the norm.
Lots of fun awaits in the Light and Sound Zone where you can play a game of air hockey with virtual pucks made of light. Strike a pose and Vogue at the Recollections attraction, upon turning around you’ll see what your shadow looks like when you walk away.
You can burn off some energy in the Challenge Zone scaling the gigantic indoor climbing wall or peddling the Extreme 360 Bikes where daring riders actually spin upside down!
For an out-of-this-world experience spend time in the Space Zone where you can explore life size replicas of an Astronaut Space Suit and the Mercury Space Capsule as well as watch an interaction, educational 3-D movie about space.

Check out the package deals at the Wonder Works ticket center. For a few extra bucks on your admission price you can play a game of lazer tag. They also package deal with the Hoot n’ Holler Dinner Theater, which conveniently happens to be on premises.
