Door County, Wisconsin Wineries
Simon Creek Vineyard and Winery
Of all the Door County wine we tasted, we liked those offered at Simon Creek best, especially their crisp, unoaked Chardonnay. Of course this is Door County so you’ll also find a nice selection of fruit wines. The tasting room is situated among the rolling hills of the vineyards, making this a particularly picturesque stop. In the summer they offer live music on the patio, so you can pick up a bottle of wine and snack in the gift shop and relax among the grapes.

Orchard Country Winery
This small family winery, founded in 1985, is housed in a historic dairy barn, built in the early 1900’s and lovingly restored by winery owner Bob Lautenbach and family. For the Lautenbachs, the wine making process begins in their property’s 100 plus acres of fruit trees and grape wines. Specializing in pure fruit varietals such as Montmorency cherry, and Honeycrisp apple, along with grape and fruit blends, wine maker Jim Bowers produces the wine in small carefully crafted batches. Jim is hands on from selecting only the best fruits and juices until its finishing in stainless steel tanks, used to preserve the fruits inherent characteristics.
Orchard Country’s tasting room offers thirty different wines! It’s conveniently housed in the family’s market where you’ll find Door County cherries in every possible variety and form.
